Northwest ireland
One of our most popular itineraries brings you into Dublin and you’ll fly out of Dublin — but the seven days in between will take you to some of the best golf in Northwest Ireland. Some of the favorites along this route are Sandy Hills, St. Patrick’s Links, County Sligo and so many more. Check out the sample itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival
- Arrive into Dublin Airport
- Transfer to Downings (4 hours)
- Check into Rosapenna for 2 nights
- 2 x single rooms and 3 x twin rooms for 8 guests:
- Enjoy your first night in Rosapenna
Day 2: Sandy Hills
Sandy Hills Links opened for play in 2003 at Rosapenna Resort. A modern links course, Pat Ruddy took on the challenge of building this majestic track. The views of Sheephaven Bay will leave you mesmerized, while the golf will present plenty of obstacles, including tighter fairways. The course plays at 7,255 yards from the tips, but it has plenty of tees to choose from. Check out more details about this Rosappena gem:
Day 3: St. Patrick's Links
Situated at Rosepenna Resort — which also features Sandy Hills Links and Old Tom Morris Course — the St. Patrick’s Links gets plenty of love, and deservedly so. The course now ranks in the top 50 of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 in the World rankings, while also sitting in the Ireland’s Top 5, a huge accomplishment. Check out more details on the course:
Day 4: Ballyliffin Glashedy
Glashedy Links opened in 1995 and has since hosted the European Tour’s Irish Open, the 2016 Irish Close Championship and Boys Home Internationals, The Interprovincial Championships in 2006, the European Tour North West of Ireland Open in 2002 and the Ladies Irish Open in 1998. You can also tee it up here, and we highly suggest you add it to your itinerary.
Day 5: Narin and Portnoo + Cruit Island
Situated on the gorgeous Donegal coast in Northwest Ireland, this classic Irish Links was recently reimagined by the design team of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. Again situated as a must-play links course, making this a part of your itinerary will both satisfy your golfing needs, as well as views that you won’t soon forget. Set alongside the Atlantic Ocean, Cruit Island Golf Club is a natural nine-hole, par-68 golf course that will simply leave you in awe. Any trip to northwest Ireland is not complete without making a stop here.
Day 6: County Sligo
County Sligo Golf Club is synonymous with Irish golf, and one of the club’s mantras is “always a different course, always a different challenge.” All we know, whatever the challenge might be, we are up for it every single time. This amazing track is one of the highlights of Northwest Ireland golf and should be on every itinerary, albeit as a visitor or a local.
Day 7: Portmarnock
With your trip to Ireland, you’ll be transported back in time into some of the most historic landmarks you can find on television — or the internet. And that applies to the golf courses, too, as Portmarnock Golf Club made history as recently as 2019, and now you can tee it up where the best amateurs in the world have.
