Day 2: Royal Aberdeen
Established in 1780, Royal Aberdeen is the sixth oldest golf club globally. The Balgownie Course is renowned for its challenging front nine, considered among the best in links golf. It has hosted notable tournaments, including the 2014 Scottish Open, where Rory McIlroy set a course record. The course’s layout offers a traditional out-and-back design, with the inward nine providing a stern test against prevailing winds.
Day 3: Cruden Bay
Designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1899, Cruden Bay offers a unique layout with panoramic views of the North Sea and Slains Castle ruins. The course is celebrated for its quirky design, featuring blind shots and dramatic elevation changes. Its 14th hole, “Blin’ Dunt,” is particularly famed for its blind approach shot. Cruden Bay consistently ranks among Scotland’s top courses, offering both challenge and charm.
Day 4: Trump International Old
Located in Aberdeenshire, this modern links course was designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree and opened in 2012. It boasts towering dunes and panoramic North Sea vistas, offering a challenging yet scenic round. The course’s design emphasizes traditional Scottish links characteristics, with deep bunkers and undulating fairways. Its commitment to environmental sustainability has been recognized, blending golf with natural beauty.
