Like Portmarnock, Royal Dublin will long be associated with the Halycon Days of Irish golf, when names such as Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam and Nick Faldo battled for success around these iconic courses. There is a huge rivalry between both clubs and both have hosted numerous professional and amateur championships. Christy O’Connor Sr., “The Greatman” himself was the club’s professional for 57 years.
